Host

A host entry represents any network host that you wish to monitor using ICMP Ping or connect to using Remote Desktop protocol.

Clicking on host opens an editor in the display pane that allows you to modify the following properties:

Friendly Name - the name by which the host is known within pasControl.

Host Name or IP - the IPv4 address, DNS name, or NetBIOS name of the host used to locate the host on the network.

After configuring your host properties ensure that you press the Save button to retain your settings.

When you right-click on a host node you are presented with the following menu options:

Connect

Delete

Detailed Ping

Toggle Pinging

System Information

Connect

This will create an ad-hoc temporary connection that will not persist when the application is closed.

Delete

Removes the host details from the database. If any connection has been created that reference this host they will be removed from the database.  Any open connections will remain open until closed at which point they will not be able to be reopened.

Detailed Ping

Displays detailed results of an ICMP Ping to the network host in the display pane.

Toggle Pinging

Toggles a persistent pinging of the host that does not end until the option is selected a second time.  While the ping is active a good connection is designated by a green gear, a failed connection by a red gear, and an unresolvable address by a yellow gear.

System Information...

Launches MSINFO against the remote host (assuming that it runs Windows) to obtain a system information report.  If the host is not accessible or you do not have the appropriate permissions an error message will appear.

Additional menu items exist for exploring the host with various protocols and applications such as HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, Telnet, and PowerShell.
